THE BOOK. JACQUELINE MOREL, Successful patchworks - Grégory Morel
I felt a great deal of emotion putting these 183 pieces on paper, each one reflecting a slice of our family’s
life. My father, my sisters, and I lived the patchwork daily, in all its forms and seams. My mother was undoubtedly
one of the most talented patchwork creators because she went beyond the traditional framework
and added her personal touch of charm and tenderness. Her work was regularly praised by many throughout
her career. She inspired dreams, stirred passions, and transmitted vocations with overflowing enthusiasm.
Her almost frantic production has left us with an incredibly rich and diverse collection that we cannot
selfishly keep hidden. I firmly believe that bringing her work to life reflects who she was: a generous woman
who shared her passion and creations without seeking the slightest glory or profit.
My father, a great lover of jazz and a passionate photographer, knew better than anyone how to look at
a work or a subject and immortalize it. He had a unique ability to highlight the small details he could spot
at first glance. The significant number of silver negatives he left behind holds true treasures. These photos
preserve the memory of countless patchworks that have been offered over time.
My sisters both inherited what seems to be a genetic gift. Incredibly talented, they excel at painting,
drawing, sculpting, miniatures, patchwork, and embroidery. It will be up to our children and grandchildren to
carry on the legacy. Nicolas, Alexandre, Malo, Andréa, Hugo, Stanislas, Marius, and Oscar will need to keep
Jacqueline’s legacy alive through their own creativity and the promotion of her work.
